When we lose a pet, it is a very sad time in our lives. Our pets are family members and hold a special place in our lives. Our pets have seen us at our worst and our best, there beside us during the good and the bad, with nothing but love for us and all our human foibles and faults. Sometimes we're really blessed and have a 2nd pet at home that can help us along the healing path, but sometimes we are left with a house empty of those 4 paws padding along. We wonder--should we get a new pet right away or should we wait? Maybe some of us are not in a position to get a new pet right away, for various reasons.
AND, sometimes we are the loved ones of those who have lost their pet and we don't know the right words to say or console the grieving person. We want to do something for them but we do not know what exactly.
This is where Sponsorship Memorials come in...
In Baton Rouge, approximately _____ shelter pets are euthanized every month for lack of space in the shelter and because rescuers would love to rescue them but have simply run out of funds to take in more homeless dogs or cats. With Sponsorship, many more of these animals can be saved, as it allows rescuers to pay the adoption fee for "Last Chance Pets", those that are scheduled to be put to sleep, and must be adopted, not fostered, due to shelter regulations. These pets are then taken in, taken care of and readied for adoption, getting a second chance in life they didn't previously have.
IN TURN, we will post here a "Timeless" (i.e. never removed) Memorial of the pet that has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. You can post up to 3 pictures and write up to 20 lines to honor your pet or that of your loved one who's grieving for their Best Friend. Your Memorial will live on our site forever and can be shared, viewed, etc and added onto by friends or family members maybe wanting to add a few words.
AS A RESULT, the $20 Sponsorship Memorial Fee will go towards a fund that pays strictly for "Last Chance Pet" rescue/adoption fees. This is a beautiful way to honor our Best Friends--by helping more potential pets find their forever homes where they can be as loved as the pets we have lost.
