There are so many ways to get involved to help the pet community in Baton Rouge! We need everything from the ground up! Do you have the following skills or talents? --Photography, Dog Grooming, Construction and Maintenance, Fence-building?-- There is a shelter or rescue in South Louisiana who can use those skills even if you only have a little bit of time! If you don't know who to contact, contact ME and I can hook y'all up! Fostering Fostering can fit in any lifestyle and any schedule--please see a full rundown of the possibilities and opportunities at our fostering page! Wishlists: All shelters and rescues have their own wishlists (see our Rescues and Shelters page) but common needed items include: toys, bathing supplies, towels and blankets, dog beds, dog houses/igloos, kitty litter, food, dishes, and leashes and collars. CHARITY TRIPLE WHAMMY!! : Buy towels and blankets, dishes, etc at charity shops (like Goodwill or St Vincent DePaul) you're helping them out, you're helping out the rescue AND you get a tax break for the donation to a 501c3!! SPONSORSHIPS AND CHIP-IN'S: Many people would love to adopt another pet or even foster but simply have run out of room, space and/or available time. Others want to help but want to make sure their money is going to help the animals specifically. You can contribute any $$ amounts, even if it's only $1, to Chip-In's. These are "communal" donation funds that help with sponsorships to get animals out of the shelter and into a foster home OR to help with specific medical emergencies. Please see our Sponsorships Page for current Chip-in's!
FREE WAYS TO HELP: Have a yard sale for the animals! You have stuff you wanted to clean out of your garage anyway, right?! Have a Bake Sale or Craft Sale You know we love food here "Down South!" Sponsor a Holiday food and/or toy drive at your church or work Help a Rescuer/Foster Parent for the day: Take them a cooked meal, take the dog to the park, take their kids to the park, anything helps!
